Slovak power utility company sign nuclear fuel deal with French company

The Slovak power utility company Slovenske Elektrarne, and French company Framatome signed a deal on the delivery of nuclear fuel for two Slovak nuclear power plants. According to the Slovak power utility company, concluding a contract with one of the foremost world suppliers of nuclear fuel is an important step towards bolstering of Slovakia's energy security.

Nuclear power plants pose a mainstay of the energy mix in Slovakia. Slovenske elektrarne is the largest producer of electricity in the country, operating 5 nuclear blocks and 32 hydroelectric plants. The French company Framatome has previously delivered control systems for the Mochovce power plant. The first deliveries of fuel from the French company are slated to take place in 2027.
