In their latest annual report on the state of the rule of law in Slovakia, the European Commission' stated that the new bill that had established STVR raises concerns about the independence of the institution. The Culture Ministry described the concerns as completely unfounded.
Meanwhile, the Government Office also responded to the EC's report. In their press release, they questioned the motivation of the commission and expressed an unfounded suspicion that the commission draws information about Slovakia from "selected media rather than from the argumentative statements of the institutions concerned".
