3 sections to replace NAKA

Three new specialised police sections will be created after the scrapping of the National Crime Agency (NAKA), Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) said on the news-only TA3 TV channel on Thursday. The sections will be focused on corruption, drug crimes and terrorism. As he added, the reorganisation of the Police Corps is based on statistics. „So that the fight against organised crime, as well as standard economic crime, corruption, terrorism and drug-related activities would be as effective as possible," stated Estok.

The Police Presidium has told TASR that the reorganisation's target is the efficient distribution of forces and money. In the past already, the Interior Minister justified the need for reorganisation by the understaffed Police Corps, the lack of employees in managerial posts, the scrapping of the Special Prosecutor's Office, but also by the need to reflect on the current security situation.
