President Peter Pellegrini will meet with Prime Minister Robert Fico, ministers, and leaders of political parties, including the opposition, on current issues. On Monday, the opposition party PS called on the president to comment on the current situation in culture. SaS in addition to personnel changes in cultural institutions also pointed to problems in the health sector and criticized the decision of Justice Minister Boris Susko to file an appeal and release former special prosecutor Dušan Kováčik from prison.
President Pellergrini pointed out that instead of calls through press conferences, opposition parties should use standard tools. "Opposition parties have standard tools with which they can and should fulfil their mandate from the citizens. Instead of calling on the President through press conferences, they should primarily use their control and political mechanisms within the Parliament or other state institutions," stated the Presidential Communication department. Pellegrini said that he closely follows the political events and specific steps always follow the interests and needs of the people in Slovakia, not the interests of political parties.
