Health Minister Zuzana Dolinkova (Hlas-SD) on Tuesday dismissed general manager and head of the board of state-run health-insurer Vseobecna zdravotna poistovna (VsZP), citing what she saw as unfavourable economic developments for the insurer.
Dolinkova said that she believes this move will go towards a necessary stabilisation and a guarantee that health care will be available to patients. "The Health Ministry, as the sole shareholder of VsZP, constantly monitors the personnel and economic condition of its largest subordinate organisation," she added. At the same time, she thanked Duris for his cooperation so far.
Last week, the Health-Care Supervision Office started administrative proceedings in connection with imposing an obligation on VsZP to submit a recovery plan for approval. It did so on the basis of a forecast of developments of the insurer's financial management until the end of the year. According to the office, this is mainly linked to the company's failure to comply with its business and financial plan in terms of equity and liquidity. The Health Ministry called the move more than necessary. VsZP declared that it would fully cooperate regarding the matter.
