Temperatures may reach 38 degrees Celsius in some districts of western Slovakia on Wednesday (August 14), prompting the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) to issue alerts of third, second and first degree in this regard.
The third-degree alert against high temperatures will be in effect in the whole Bratislava region and in the districts of Dunajska Streda (Trnava region), Komarno and Nove Zamky (Nitra region) between 1 p.m. a 7 p.m.. A maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius is expected in some places. "This air temperature is rare in the given time of the year and area and the probability of damage to health by excessive load on the body of some persons is high," added SHMU.
First- and second-degree alerts have been issued for other areas in Slovakia, except for Presov region.
