The minimum wage for next year will be set by law at 816 euros, because the social partners did not agree on its amount at the meeting of the Economic and Social Council, said the Labor Minister Erik Tomáš. When negotiating the minimum wage for 2025, employers demanded a gradual, several-year increase in the percentage of the so-called automat from 57% to 60% of the average wage.
"Increasing the automat from 57% of the average wage to 60% when calculating the minimum wage is not reasonable in our opinion, as we are in a major recession within the EU. We are tied to the economies of large member countries. We are not against going from 57% to 60%, but gradually," emphasized the president of the National Union of Employers, Miroslav Kiraľvarga.
According to the Minimum Wage Act, if there is a disagreement between the social partners, the monthly minimum wage for the following year is set at 57% of the average monthly nominal wage of an employee in the Slovak economy. This percentage is based on the average wage from the calendar year two years prior to 2025.
