Cultural platform Otvorená kultúra! began a relay protest called the Slovak Cultural Uprising in front of the Culture Ministry on Monday, August 19th. It will last until August 29. The platform and the participants of the relay protest demand the immediate dismissal of the Culture Minister Martina Šimkovičová as well as her Chief-of-Staff, Lukáš Machala.
"This is a protest involving culture and the artistic community. It is a relay protest, non-violent, civil and determined that we will stand here until our demands are met. The entire cultural community is involved in this protest. We are determined to fight until the first demand in particular is met, and that is the immediate dismissal of Minister Šimkovičová," explained Veronika Němcová for the platform Otvorená kultúra!
