Slovak radio amateurs celebrate SNP by broadcasting from special station

Slovak radio amateurs are commemorating the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) by broadcasting from a special amateur radio station with the call-sign OM80SNP, TASR has learnt from Slovak Telecommunications Union spokesman Roman Vavro.

The station is establishing connections with radio amateurs from all over the world and will broadcast until the end of August.
"Radio amateurs who set up an amateur radio connection with this station will receive confirmation in the form of a commemorative QSL card," Vavro explained. Radio amateurs also commemorate SNP anniversaries every year with broadcasting contests.

In addition, the Slovak Telecommunications Union is commemorating the work of military technicians and radio amateurs who took part in the national uprising. They took care of the repair and operation of the Free Slovak Radio Transmitter during the uprising, trained staff, provided connections and repaired equipment, added the union spokesman.
