Eduard Chmelár, who worked as an advisor to Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), announced that he is leaving his position. "Prime Minister Robert Fico dismissed me from the position…effective immediately. The reason is clear: my criticism of the antics of the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment Štefan Kuffa. I was ready for this outcome," stated Chmelár on social media.
On Facebook, Chmelár criticized the actions of Secretary Kuffa who interrupted a theater performance in Mala Franková a few days ago. At the same time, he objected to what the Minister of the Environment Tomáš Taraba (nom. SNS) wrote about the incident.
"What worried me the most was not that Štefan Kuffa can't distinguish a 'perverted film' from a theatrical performance, and Tomáš Taraba makes up nonsense about a 'performance full of LGBTI scenes'," wrote Chmelár in a statement in which he also spoke of "extremists " from the opposition Progressive Slovakia.
He said he was horrified by the "growing sentiments of a section of society who urge politicians to ban a political party, a film, a play or a newspaper, even though there are no legal grounds for doing so in a free society".
