Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) signed a Declaration on the Development of Social Dialogue in Slovakia with representatives of employers, employees, regional and local authorities as well as science and religious communities on Thursday. Fico stated that the situation in Slovakia is quite tense, which makes arriving at a basic consensus on elementary issues exceedingly difficult. According to him, "it's necessary to hold a dialogue with heavyweight actors in the spheres of Slovakia's economy, social, societal and cultural communities". Fico plans to invite important stakeholders to an informal work meeting "once a month or once every six weeks" with the first to be held in mid-September. The topic discussed should be "the content and quality of Slovakia's foreign political orientation".
