Slovakia to purchase air defence systems from Israel

Slovakia will purchase six mobile air defence systems from Israel. The estimated price is over 554 million euros. The Slovak Ministry of Defence is expected to sign the intergovernmental agreement with the Israeli side by the end of October. This follows from the material approved by the government on Wednesday.

“The Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic has intensively negotiated with representatives of the Ministry of Defence of the State of Israel on the procurement of mobile air defence systems (SAM-M) in 2023-2024. As a result of these negotiations, the bids for SAM-M systems from the State of Israel are the most advantageous from the economic, technical and time points of view,” the minister wrote in the material.

The ministry claims that if the situation concerning the protection of Slovak airspace is not addressed, the country would lose its remaining capability to protect it by 2027.
