The Slovak Republic will have a new representation in four countries. From 1 September, new representative offices will be established in Tanzania, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Algeria. At the same time, from 31 December, the Slovak representations in Denmark, Norway, Krakow in Poland and St Petersburg in Russia will cease to exist. Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) announced this at a press conference. The government approved the proposal to modify the network of Slovak embassies on Wednesday. The minister added that the ministry also plans to abolish the Slovak Liaison Office in Kosovo.
The decision to establish four new embassies, he said, reflects Slovakia's interest in expanding its economic diplomacy.
In addition, economic diplomats will be added in several countries. While there are currently 17, after the change they will be present in 43 countries.
