Three quarters of the Slovak population are proud of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP), 13 percent have the opposite opinion. This is according to a survey conducted by Median SK agency on a sample of 1870 respondents aged 18 to 79 from 10 June to 4 August.
The survey also focused on the perception of the war time Slovak State. Almost two thirds of the Slovak population perceive it as a totalitarian regime. Almost one in five described it as democratic.
Respondents were also asked to express their opinion of Milan Rastislav Štefánik, Alexander Dubček, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, Gustáv Husák, Klement Gottwald, and Jozef Tiso. The most positive perception among them was that of Štefánik – 80 per cent of respondents said so. On the contrary, respondents perceived Tiso, Gottwald and Husák negatively.
