Municipalities and their organizations can now apply for funding to restore cultural monuments, revitalize natural areas, and support local cultural institutions through a new program announced by the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development, and Informatization (MIRRI). Minister Richard Raši announced that the program has an allocation of 213 million euros this year, rising to over 260 million euros by 2025. "The call is part of integrated territorial investments, where local decisions will determine the allocation," Raši explained. Eligible projects must be approved as part of integrated territorial investment plans.
Eligible applicants include regions, cities, municipalities, NGOs, churches, and companies providing public services. Funds can be used for monument restoration, infrastructure and natural area revitalization among others.
State Secretary Michal Kaliňák noted that over 100 of the 183 received comments were incorporated into the call. "This shows that the call is shaped by and for municipalities," Kaliňák said, adding that he hopes it will boost local development and tourism. Applications are open from Monday until the funds are exhausted.
