Pharmacies in Slovakia are experiencing a dramatic rise in demand for COVID-19 antigen tests, with a more than 300 percent increase from July to August. This trend is ongoing, according to Peter Sedláček, spokesperson for the Association of Network Pharmacists. The surge in test demand has been steady since late July. Pharmacies currently have enough stock but are prepared to order more if needed. There is no similar increase in demand for other medications, including pain relievers. The Public Health Authority of Slovakia (ÚVZ) reported a rise in COVID-19 cases, with 216 new cases last week compared to 160 the week before. As the flu season approaches, ÚVZ expects more respiratory illnesses and hospitalizations. They recommend staying home if ill, following medical advice, and minimizing contact with others, including using respirators and maintaining good hygiene.
