Parliament on Tuesday approved the Framework Agreement between Slovakia and Austria on cross-border cooperation in the field of emergency medical services, TASR learnt on the same day.
According to the agreement, Slovak and Austrian ambulance services should cooperate in the border area. This means that, if necessary, Slovak ambulances could intervene in Austria and Austrian ambulances in Slovakia. The agreement covers the border area of Bratislava and Trnava regions, and the federal states of Lower Austria, Burgenland and Vienna.
The Health Ministry stated that the cooperation aims to ensure the best possible access to health care in the border areas. The treaty has yet to be ratified by the President.
