Hlas-SD MPs to support Simecka's dismissal in potential vote in Parliament

MPs for the governing Hlas-SD party will vote for the dismissal of Progressive Slovakia (PS) leader Michal Simecka from the House vice-chair post, party leader and Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok told a news conference on Tuesday.

Sutaj Estok also called on opposition MPs to back the proposal for Simecka's dismissal. He regrets that Simecka hasn't resigned of his own volition.

Parliament is due to deal with the proposal for Simecka's dismissal at a special session scheduled for Thursday (September 12). The motion was filed by MPs for Smer-SD and SNS.
Simecka responded by saying that he sees the proposal to remove him from the post as revenge, adding that PS MPs want to draw attention to the unresolved problems and failures of the government at the extraordinary meeting of Parliament.

Simecka added that the cabinet is only engaged in revenge instead of addressing problems. "Whatever the outcome of the meeting, we'll continue to do what we've been doing - pointing out that this government isn't serving the people, that it is only serving itself, and pointing out at the same time how much better off we could be in Slovakia if we had a government that cared," he noted.
