Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Minister Erik Tomas held a news conference on Sunday to announce provision of financial and humanitarian aid to people living in flood-hit areas.
A contribution of €1,500 up to 2 times will be provided to one household at maximum. "We can provide €15,000 to towns and villages, but they will be obliged to use it to purchase material and other things for citizens," said Tomas.
The aid will be distributed via labour offices, based on applications filed by citizens. "Labour offices will judge the extent of damage in each household," said the minister, adding that it's impossible to quantify the total volume of aid at the moment.
