In a statement made on social media, Slovakia’s State Nature Protection Agency (ŠOP) said that pollution and climate change threaten water resources, which is why water monitoring is important. In honor of World Water Monitoring Day, the agency is trying to raise awareness of the problems of water pollution and the importance of monitoring water resources, to educate people about water resources, to support public involvement in water monitoring and the protection of water resources around the world. The main indicators of water quality are temperature, dissolved oxygen, clarity, acidity, nutrients and salinity. "In addition to these six indicators, toxins are also being looked for," explained ŠOP.
