On Thursday, Porto Alegre, Brazil, will host a screening of Czechoslovak films from the 1960s titled "Forbidden Czechoslovak World." The event features five digitally restored Slovak films from the Czechoslovak New Wave, representing Slovakia at classic film events, and will run until October 13. Presented by the Cinemateca Capitólio, the series showcases films banned after the 1968 Soviet invasion, highlighting a significant era in Czechoslovak cinema that has not been widely screened in Brazil.
The event is organized by the Cinemateca Capitólio in collaboration with various cultural and diplomatic institutions, including the Slovak Embassy in Brazil and the Czech National Film Archive.
