National Police Chief Ľubomír Solák met with Financial Administration President Jozef Kiss, Bratislava City Police Chief Miroslav Antal, and Mayor Matúš Vallo to discuss recent raids in clubs across Bratislava. The meeting focused on streamlining procedures to minimize the impact on individuals and businesses not involved in illegal activities. The police emphasized the importance of proper business registration.
During the latest operation, several plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance were seized, and five individuals were detained.
The city expressed concerns over the proportionality of police interventions. Bratislava's spokesman, Peter Bubla, stated, "The latest raids on Bratislava's music clubs raised legitimate doubts about their adequacy," and rejected interpretations portraying music clubs as crime hubs. He noted that the city also highlighted other areas in Bratislava experiencing drug-related crimes that threaten residents.
The city police admitted they were unaware of the operation's details until the last moment and were primarily responsible for securing entry to the venues. Communications department head Peter Borko added that city police officers are equipped with body cameras to ensure respectful conduct. He indicated that the city police would reconsider their participation in such operations in the future.
Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Voice-SD) announced on Wednesday that the police would take a hard stance in combating drug use in clubs and schools.
