Slovakia has reaffirmed its full support for Ukraine's EU membership. Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that Slovakia would not place any barriers in Ukraine’s path toward EU integration during a joint Slovak-Ukrainian government meeting near Uzhhorod. Fico noted the importance of having Ukraine as an EU member and highlighted Slovakia's offer of expertise in the integration process, despite some EU countries potentially trying to slow Ukraine's accession. Slovakia also intends to participate in all peace conferences aimed at resolving the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
“Slovakia understands that the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine must be preserved. And in this spirit, we will support all peace initiatives that could lead to this goal. Because you all are familiar with my opinion, but I will say it again -- there is no military solution for this conflict that would satisfy one side or the other,” says Fico.
At the meeting, Slovak and Ukrainian ministers signed several memorandums on cooperation in various sectors, including a readmission agreement, educational collaboration, and agricultural cooperation. Slovakia is preparing another package of humanitarian and non-lethal military aid.
