President Peter Pellegrini departed for Krakow, Poland, on Thursday to participate in the Arraiolos Group meeting. The summit is set to take place on Friday, October 11, at Wawel Castle, a historic landmark and former residence of Polish kings. The agenda for the talks will align with the key priorities of Poland’s upcoming EU presidency in the first half of 2025. The main focus of the discussions will be on strengthening transatlantic relations in the face of global challenges and threats. Key topics include the potential enlargement of the EU, the reconstruction of Ukraine, energy security, European security, and addressing illegal migration.
This year's summit is hosted by Polish President Andrzej Duda and will bring together the presidents of 12 European nations, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia. “These meetings offer a unique opportunity to exchange views, share experiences, and discuss visions for the future. They also provide a platform for addressing the future of the European Union and tackling global issues,” stated the President's Office.
