The Folklore Ensemble Zemplín successfully represented Slovakia at the Cheonan World Dance Festival in South Korea, winning a silver medal among 30 participating groups. The ensemble showcased dances from the Zemplín and Horehronie regions, impressing judges with their authentic interpretation of traditional folklore.
With 18 dancers, six musicians, and four singers, they advanced to the finals after strong performances in the semifinals. Their final piece depicted life in various villages along the Bodrog River. 13 of the 20 dancers are university students, which contributed to their success. Their participation was supported by the Slovak Arts Council and the Košice Self-Governing Region.
