Survey: Slovaks the least happy people in Europe

Slovaks declare to be less happy than inhabitants in any other European countries are, according to an international survey aimed at inquiring about the subjective perception of happiness. TASR learnt the news from Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) spokesperson Monika Tinakova on Sunday.

"The data establish that Slovakia reports the lowest level of happiness in comparison to all other countries surveyed. However, it must be noted that the average happiness score in Slovakia reached 6.57 on a scale from 0 (extremely unhappy) to 10 (extremely happy), hence the Slovaks are still "inclined" to feel more happy rather than unhappy," stated SAV researcher Alexander Loziak.

Countries with highest self-reported happiness levels are Switzerland (8.15), Finland (8.07) and Norway (7.95). Slovakia ranked at the bottom (6.57).
