A two-day international conference called Slovak BioEconomy Valley started on Wednesday at the castle in the village of Halič in the Lučenec district. Representatives of six European countries discussed bioeconomy and its application in the Banská Bystrica region, informed Daniel Kojnok from the BioPark Slovakia association.
The political and economic support for the bioeconomy, innovation, education and investment in this field was discussed. Representatives from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Portugal and France participated in the conference.
"The Banská Bystrica region has the highest potential for the development of bioeconomy in terms of raw material base. When we include the developed scientific and research capacities with the use of excellent research partners from abroad, there is an opportunity for a fundamental change in the direction of the region," added Kojnok.
The Slovak BioEconomy Valley international conference ran until noon on Thursday (24 October). The event is organised by Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region and the BioPark Slovakia association.
