The Slovak Radio Concert Studio hosted the unique Miro Žbirka Symphonic Night on Thursday, featuring the artist's hits performed by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Adrián Kokoš. Accompanied by Žbirka's band and special guests, the concert celebrated his music on what would have been his 72nd birthday. The evening opened with a video montage set to Žbirka's song "Mesto spí." The orchestra played several of his iconic tracks, including "Melodicon," "Morning Sun," and "Yesterday." Guest cellist Terezie Kovalová performed solo pieces, while violinist Jaroslav Svěcený contributed with favorites like "Jesenná láska." The concert concluded with the classic "Mám rád," a staple of Žbirka's performances.
David, Žbirka's son, created the video projections, showcasing images from London and Prague, early concerts, and personal moments. This event follows the successful release of the Symphonic Album in 2011, which featured 12 of Žbirka's songs with orchestral accompaniment. Conductor Adrián Kokoš reflected on his collaboration with Žbirka, noting the deep personal connection they shared. Miroslav Žbirka's music career began at 15 with Modus, and he went on to release 16 solo albums, the last of which, Posledné veci, was completed shortly before his passing on November 10, 2021.
