Health Minister wants to present plan to stabilise health-care sector in regions

Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Hlas-SD) intends to hold regional meetings with representatives of professional health chambers, local governments and other concerned organisations to discuss the plan for stabilising the health-care system with them, the minister told a news conference on Tuesday following his talks with the health-care section of the Association of Employers' Unions (AZZZ) on Tuesday.

Subsequently, he'll present the plan to the trade union. "The basic output should be a clear idea of what needs to be done in the short term, but also in the longer term. I subsequently plan to present this idea to the trade union, and it will be my clear response [not only] to their demand to present particular steps for systemic changes in the health-care sector," said the minister, adding that he'd like to start with meetings next week.

Sasko stressed that the ministry and other organisations in the sector have the same goal as the trade union. According to him, Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) shows interest in the situation in the health-care sector every week at the government session.

The association agreed with the minister at the talks that the sector's budget will be consulted with the association, said AZZZ Vice-president Igor Pramuk, who described the talks as constructive.
