Rajecká Lesná starts receiving letters to their Christmas address “Ježiško 99999”

Sending Christmas letters to Ježiško to the post office in Rajecká Lesná has been an annual tradition for children in Slovakia for 26 years, with nearly 2.5 million letters received from around the world. This year, the first letter arrived as early as April. The opening of this year’s Christmas Post features a special stamp portraying a snowman that was designed by seven-year-old Hanka Neumannová from Komárno.  Slovak Post's director Vladislav Kupka praised the children's artwork, noting 2,500 submissions last year. So far, around 100 letters have arrived, most from Slovakia, but international letters are also coming in. All letters with a return address will receive a reply and a small gift from "Ježiško," with responses sent to those arriving before mid-December.
