President Peter Pellegrini congratulated Donald Trump on his U.S. presidential victory, expressing hopes for continued positive relations between Slovakia, the U.S., and Europe. He pointed out to the shared values and Slovakia’s commitment as a reliable NATO ally. Pellegrini also voiced hope that Trump would work to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Robert Fico shared a similar stance, calling Trump’s win a setback for progressive ideas and a victory against media bias. He noted that Trump's administration may bring important changes to U.S.-EU relations, which he expects to challenge European leaders to adopt a more assertive approach. Several other Slovak politicians joined in to praise Trump’s election win, including the opposition party KDH.
