Nearly half of Slovak companies report lack of digital skills among employees, a gap addressed by the ING 4.0 educational program. Unveiled by Industry4UM, the ING 4.0 program supports upskilling and reskilling workers for digital transformation. Its developers claim that many employees do not understand how digital tools can improve company outcomes.
The program targets technical staff and managers in areas like robotics, data analytics, logistics systems, and smart maintenance. Rapid technological advances require employees to update digital skills every four to five years, said Andrej Lasz, General Secretary of the Association of Industrial Unions, adding that digital adaptation is essential for competitiveness, especially for small and medium enterprises.
Funded through the EDIH EXPANDI 4.0 network, the program provides full funding for SMEs through Digital Europe and Slovakia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. Technical universities in Bratislava, Žilina, and Košice oversee the program, ensuring ongoing support for industry’s digital growth.
