At the European Political Community summit in Budapest, Prime Minister Robert Fico urged the EU to allocate more funds to fight illegal migration. He argued that, while funding flows to the “senseless war in Ukraine,” the EU must also address urgent issues like migration, pointing out the 4 million illegal migrants all around Europe. Fico praised Serbia and Hungary for their way of managing the migration crisis and suggested that the next EU budget should prioritize migration as a primary threat. He also voiced concerns over potential changes in U.S. support for Ukraine and stated Slovakia would oppose any plan for the EU to assume full financial responsibility for Ukraine.
The summit brought together 42 heads of state and government, including leaders from the EU, NATO, and the OSCE.
