Slovakia appoints new director for state health insurance company

The State General Health Insurance Company (VšZP) has appointed Matúš Jurových as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director. His appointment was announced on Wednesday, November 13, by Health Minister Kamil Šaško (Hlas-SD), according to the Slovak Ministry of Health.

Alongside this change, Minister Šaško dismissed Matej Fekete from his roles as Vice-Chairman and Board Member of VšZP. Jurových will temporarily take on Fekete’s board responsibilities until a new selection process for board members is conducted in the coming days. Previously, Jurových served as a board member for VšZP, the ministry noted.

Jurových expressed his commitment to the new role with “great humility and respect,” stating, “I appreciate the trust placed in me for this challenging task. Together with my colleagues, we have overcome many challenges and initiated several projects. I am committed to improving our services, strengthening policyholder confidence, and building a strong, stable institution. I believe that together we will succeed.”

VšZP assured stakeholders that all key processes continue to be fully managed by the directors of individual sections and departments.

In August, former Health Minister Zuzana Dolinková (Hlas-SD) dismissed the previous Chairman and General Director, Michal Ďuriš. Since then, Fekete and Jurových had jointly overseen operations at VšZP under interim arrangements.
