Employers will be required to provide contributions for their employees’ children’s sports activities. The new regulation applies to companies with over 49 employees, with a maximum annual contribution of €275 per employee’s children. This stems from a Labour Code amendment signed by President Peter Pellegrini, proposed by coalition SNS MPs. "The obligation aims to address public health trends showing that insufficient childhood physical activity leads to early onset of chronic diseases like obesity and diabetes. The law promotes organized sports participation to support both physical and mental development," the MPs stated. Building on existing legislation allowing voluntary contributions, the amendment makes this mandatory, intending to increase children’s participation in regular sports and stimulate economic activity in sports organizations. The law takes effect on January 1, 2025.
