The Slovak Armed Forces strongly distanced themselves from the actions of Smilno Mayor Vladimír Baran, who delivered tens of thousands of euros from a public collection to Russia, the military stated on social media. "We emphasize that these are not active members of the Slovak Armed Forces, and their actions do not reflect the values or official positions of the Slovak Armed Forces regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine," the statement read. During his visit to Russia, Baran, wearing a military uniform, handed over a check for the funds, intended for civilians in the Kursk region, to Russian officials.
