After 15 years, Slovakia will rejoin the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, deploying 60 soldiers, with potential expansion to 150, Defence Minister Robert Kalinak announced Wednesday. Citing escalating tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, Kalinak emphasized Slovakia’s responsibility despite not recognizing Kosovo’s independence. Slovakia previously participated in KFOR from 1999 to 2010, contributing 2,004 troops. On Ukraine, Kalinak criticized the use of Western weapons for strikes in Russia, calling it dangerous, while stressing Russia's role as the aggressor. He also noted concerns over North Korean troops in Russia but stated they remain within Russian borders.
