The Internal Affairs Inspectorate (UIS) has charged a second police officer with abuse of power in the case of a detainee beaten to death in Kosice, UIS spokesperson Andrea Dobiasova announced Thursday. The charges against the officer, initially responding to a grocery store theft, were based on new evidence. "No further details can be disclosed at this time," said Dobiasova. The first officer, currently in custody, severely beat the suspect on November 5, causing fatal injuries, including severe head trauma and cerebral edema. The victim died in the hospital the next day.
