SNG employees threaten to resign

A total of 177 Slovak National Gallery (SNG) employees have issued a mass appeal for the institution's protection, citing layoffs of experts, non-transparent organizational changes, poor communication, and alleged incompetence by acting director Milos Timko. At a press conference on Thursday, the group warned of collective resignation notices in January 2025 if their demands are not met. Their appeal calls for preserving expert roles, ensuring transparency, and maintaining professionalism in management.

"We demand the safeguarding of expert positions and transparent processes essential for the gallery's stability," said Zuzana Dzurdzikova, one of the initiators. They also called for continuity in key projects and an end to what they described as "incompetent and deliberate structural interventions."

The 177 signatories represent over 65% of the gallery's 270 employees across five departments. They warned that such mass resignations would render the gallery inoperable.
