At the Visegrad Group (V4) Presidential Summit, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini emphasized that security topics go beyond borders and must unite countries regardless of political differences. Discussions focused on improving civil protection and crisis management following recent severe floods impacting all four V4 nations. According to Pellegrini, the countries need to strengthen early warning systems, improve data exchange between meteorological stations, and organize joint cross-border rescue exercises to enhance cooperation. The leaders also addressed the war in Ukraine. Pellegrini stressed the urgency of pushing both sides toward negotiations. He noted growing consensus among European leaders that achieving peace remains the only solution to the conflict, despite the difficulties.
