Slovak PM proposes talks with Ukrainian president

Prime Minister Robert Fico has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to a meeting through an open letter where he proposed dialogue about the gas transit and bilateral relations. Zelenskyy in response to Fico's proposal wrote: "Alright, come to Kyiv on Friday," on platform X. According to Fico, this meeting could provide a platform for addressing the impact of halted gas transit on Slovakia, Ukraine, and the European Union, including solutions to mitigate economic consequences.  He noted Slovakia faces significant annual losses of €500 million due to transit disruptions. Despite tensions following Zelenskyy's recent criticism of Fico’s visit to Moscow, the Slovak PM reiterated his commitment to resolving the gas transit issue and supporting peace initiatives for the war in Ukraine.
