Police accuses pensioner of cutting bus seats in Košice

The highly-publicised case of the excessive damaging of vehicles seats of the Kosice public transport has taken an unexpected twist, as police have pressed charges against a 69 year old pensioner. The police managed to identify the culprit by studying vehicle camera footage. "The accused pensioner was seen in many CCTV recordings cutting open the upholstery of bus seats and backrests in vehicle interiors. This occurred mostly on buses serving the borough of Tahanovce," said Kosice regional police spokesman Alexander Szabo. The 69-year-old man, identified only as Jan, faces charges of damaging the property of others and, if found guilty, could be jailed up to a year. The incidents took place between November-December 2015. The overall damage caused by the accused was set at more than €540. The reasons guiding the elderly vandal's actions remain as of yet unknown.
