The 2016 eTourEurope event involves 3900 kilometres (2400 miles) of driving across Europe in only battery-powered vehicles. In a wide loop from Stuttgart (German) to Salzburg (Austria) the course takes 15 teams to 9 European capital cities in 9 days. For some teams in long-range electric cars it was an effortless journey, however for others there were equal servings of both fun and frustration. With the convoy of electric cars just moments away from reaching Bratislava (Slovakia) Gavin Shoebridge went to find out why anyone would make such a journey using electrons instead of petrol or diesel.
