Generating electricity from wind is becoming increasingly popular, with ever-larger and more powerful wind turbines being installed around the world. However, this eco-friendly method of power generation has reached a technical limitation: physical size. But help may be on the way from the Electrical Slovak Academy of Sciences. Gavin Shoebridge spoke to Dr Pavol Kováč from the Academy's Institute of Electrical Engineering to discover how new superconductor technology could shrink wind turbine components without a loss in generating power.
