Following an agreement to be signed in October, patients from Slovakia in need of a lung transplant will have the procedure done at the Faculty Hospital Motol in Prague. The operation is not performed in Slovakia and the long term agreement with the Allgemeines Krankenhaus in Vienna expired in May. After nineteen years of cooperation the agreement was not renewed due to a shortage of capacity. Currently there are four Slovak patients waiting to be put on the list of those searching for a donor and one waiting for the operation.
