The SNP Central Military Hospital in Ružomberok (Žilina region) and Stará Ľubovňa Hospital (Prešov region) are the best hospitals in Slovakia this year, according to an evaluation of healthcare facilities carried out by the Institute for Economic and Social Reforms (INEKO), a Bratislava based think tank. The hospital in Ružomberok received the best ranking in the category of state university and faculty hospitals, while the hospital in Stará Ľubovňa topped the list of general hospitals. "We compared the healthcare facilities based on patients' satisfaction, the quality of health care provided in the hospital, transparency and governance of the hospital," said INEKO analyst Dušan Zachar. The statistical data was provided by all three health insurers, the Supervisory Office for Health Care, the Health Ministry, and the hospitals themselves.
The three worst places on the list were taken by the hospitals in Považská Bystrica (Trenčín region), Galanta (Trnava region) and Prievidza (Trenčín region). According to INEKO, its index of hospitals can't be viewed as a comprehensive picture of the quality of health-care facilities.
