A single agency - the Slovak Research and Innovation Support Ecosystem (SK RISE) - should be set up as an umbrella organisation for supporting science, research and innovation in Slovakia, with efficient spending to be ensured by a revised system of funding and new flexible tools, states the "A Modern and Successful Slovakia" reform plan presented on Monday. Public spending on science and research should be increased to 0.6 percent of GDP, while overall spending on the sector is expected to reach 1.2 percent of GDP. Meanwhile, public funds for science and research should be upped each year by 0.05 percent of the state budget in order to reach the EU average by 2030.
