The Šúr nature reserve is one of the hidden treasures of the Slovak countryside. Nevertheless, despite its proximity to Slovakia's capital and its international importance, it has been unknown to many people, including locals. In the past, ignorance of the environmental importance of the locality almost led to its complete destruction.
