"We have noticed that interest in natural sciences is declining in Slovakia. We wanted to change this and support young people." says Marta Šoltésová Prnová from the Centre of Experimental Medicine at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. More than 40 children from all over Slovakia attended the Summer School of Young Scientists at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. During the week, they gained new knowledge, met scientists and learnt new skills from experiments or field research. The program is designed for elementary school students from the 5th to the 9th grade. Based on their cover letters, the organizers have selected a specific number of participants. This year, more than 120 applications were received.
