Scientists from the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra have obtained resources for a project aimed at mapping flood threats. A team of experts from four departments of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics has succeeded in a challenge from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The main objective of the project is to develop a methodology for flood risk mapping and assessment using detailed geospatial data and hybrid approaches. These are to include machine learning, hydrological-hydraulic approaches and analysis of remote sensing data, according to the researchers. The project will involve an interdisciplinary team of experts from the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Regional Development, the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, and the Departments of Computer Science and Mathematics.
